Western United Developmental Program

Western United F.C. proudly announces the establishment of our new Developmental Program, open to all girls and boys between the ages of 5 and 10 who aspire to be part of the Western United F.C. tradition of excellence in premier soccer

Purpose and Goals:

• Develop technically sound players who can function at the highest levels of play
• Provide an environment where player confidence, creativity, and individual ability flourishes
• Introduce team concepts and further team development
• Expose players to their talented peers and grow together
• Have FUN learning and playing the "beautiful game"!

The Program Will Include:

• Training sessions based on a developmentally appropriate curriculum and supervised by Western United F.C. coaches
• Weekly training in two locations—the greater Springfield area and Northampton, MA—through winter and spring (and fall, beginning in 2010)
• Opportunities for intraclub and interclub play dates in fall and spring (on Saturday mornings before PVJSL games)

Program Director: Coach Ryan Lavner and Staff

Coach Ryan Lavner is currently the head coach of the Western United 95s (U14 Girls), recognized as one of the top teams in their age group in Region I (Maine to Virginia), and its roster includes Regional and State ODP players. Coach Lavner has developed the 95s since they were Under-10s and has taken the girls to elite tournaments through Region I. He also is in his second year as the Head Coach of the Division 1 East Longmeadow High School girls program and is a member of the coaching staff of the Massachusetts Olympic Development Program's Under-16 Girls team for 2009-2010.

North Site (Allsport Soccer Arena, 54 Old Ferry Road, Northampton, MA)

U7-U8 girls and boys
Mondays (1/4, 1/11, 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15) 5:00-6:00 p.m.

U9-U10 boys red - session full
Mondays (1/4, 1/11, 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 3/1, 3/8, 3/15) 6:00-7:00 p.m.

U5-U6 girls and boys
Tuesdays (1/5, 1/12, 1/19, 1/26, 2/2, 2/9, 2/16, 3/2, 3/9, 3/16) 5:00-6:00 p.m.

U9-U10 girls

Spring Training Schedule

Two outdoor training sessions per week (one at a north site and one at a south site). Dates and times to be announced.
