WU Player Selected Region I 1996 ODP Team

Western United FC Will Rasid Congratulations to Western United's Will Rasid who was selected to the Region 1 1996 ODP (Olympic Development Program) team. The team is made up of the best 1996 ODP players from thirteen states (NY, NJ, ME, VT, NH, MA, RI, DE, PA, VA, MD, WV, CT). As a member of the team, he will be heading to the IMG Academy in Brandenton, Florida in January to compete against other US Regional ODP teams where the best players  will be chosen for the US team and will play in an international competition in March. Will was selected to the team due to his performance at the Region 1 pool training camp held in January at Penn State University and his performance at the 1996 ODP ID camp in the summer of 2011. Three WU Players Receive National Honors

NSCAA Logo The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) is America's top coaching organization and focuses on educating coaches and promoting the game of soccer. Each year they honor players at the National and Regional levels for their accomplishments in the game. This year, they have honored three current Western United players Hans Erickson, Eddie Mercer and Jenna Fisher. Hans and Eddie have been selected to the 2011 NSCAA High School Boys All-Region I team (All New England) while Jenna Fisher has been selected to the 2011 NSCAA Girls High School Scholar All-American Team. Jenna, Hans and Eddie play for the Western Girls/Boys u18 teams.

Western United Top Performers Take Part in All-Star Senior Classic.

Western Mass girls all-star game
The best senior high school soccer players in Western Massachusetts participated in the annual Western Massachusetts Soccer Coaches Association Senior All-Star Classic games. Many WUFC standouts from both the girls and boys teams put on a tremendous show of skill and sportsmanship in front of local fans and college coaches. View rosters.

MPS Thanksgiving Day Showcase Tournament Results

Western United U18 girl player
Western United teams gave a noteworthy showing at the MPS Thanksgiving Day Showcase Tournament. Five teams participated in the Thanksgiving weekend event in locations throughout Central and Eastern Massachusetts. The U18 Girls won their Elite Green Division, while the boys U18, U17, and U16 took second place respectively in their divisions. The U15 boys had a great showing in their division, competing against some very good teams.

Freshman Alum Earns Honorable Mention to NCAA Men's D2

Southern New Hampshire University Chris Pereirato (Ludlow, MA) received an honorable mention to the NCAA Men's D2 tournament performers. Pereirato was coached by WUFC coach, Kevon Isa.

Women's Soccer Alum Earns Honorable Mention

Roger Williams University’s senior forward Lauren Pendleton (Southwick, MA) earned honorable mention to the NCAA Women’s D3 tournament top performers. Pendleton was also named offensive player of the week by the Common Coast Conference. Pendleton was coached by WUFC coach, Becka Meyers.

Coleman Receives Honorable Mention All-Ivy

Evan Coleman (Amherst, MA) is earning his third Honorable Mention all Ivy as a midfielder. Coleman was also selected to participate in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League Senior All-Star Game. Coleman was coached by WUFC Coach, Derek Shea. Read more at the Brown University web site.

Howard Selected For NEISL All-Star Game

Clark senior Kenny Howard (Longmeadow, MA) has both been selected to participate in the New England Intercollegiate Soccer League Senior All-Star Game. Howard started 65 games for Clark while earning two all-conference nods, including a first-team selection in 2009. Review his college stats here.

Western United Alum Named Liberty League Player of the Year

St. Lawrence University junior midfielder Sam DeMello (Easthampton, MA) was the unanimous choice of the coaches as Liberty League Player of the Year. DeMello, a second-team All American last year and now a three-time All Liberty League selection was also a four-time Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week during the 2011 season.
