Under-14 Boys "Red" Team Results (2005-2006)


The Western United 14 Boys Reds traveled to Princeton New Jersey on April 8th for their first appearance in the top flight of the prestigious Players Development Academy (PDA) Spring Kick-off Tournament. In their opening game, the boys dominated the New Jersey state cup semi-finalists, Pasco NJ Stallions, with a 2-0 victory in a hard fought battle in rain and sleet. In their second match, Western earned a tie against a top Region 1 club, Jersey Crew United. The tie earned the boys a first place finish in their group and advancement to the semifinals against New Jersey state cup finalists, Jersey Crew Celtic. The Reds won by a score of 3 to 2 in an overtime shootout victory. In the final match, the reds got off to an early lead late in the first half while playing a skilled LSTS FC Barcelona club. The game ended in a tie and went to shootouts. Showing great composure, Western United prevailed 4 to 2 in penalty-kick victory, with four straight successful shots. In four tough matches against the top teams in New Jersey, the Western United Reds went 3-0-1 in a fantastic weekend and tournament for the PDA tournament championship.
